RE Teachers: Teaching RE is a great opportunity to connect with the younger members of the KUF congregation. Our young people will surprise you with their energy, ideas, creativity and strong sense responsibility to our world. Teachers are an integral part of the RE program as they provide the mentorship and friendship that our young people need. Please spend some time with the RE program this year, whether it be as a teacher, an assistant, a driver or someone who leads a group activity.

The purpose of Religious Education for children is to nurture children's spiritual and emotional growth by:

• promoting a sense of individual self-worth
• encouraging ethical and empathetic thinking
• teaching Unitarian values of community, social justice, tolerance, open-mindedness, understanding,

co-operation and sharing.

 

• providing opportunities to practice these values
• celebrating special days, events, and people
• thinking about the "big questions" that people have always asked
• developing an appreciation for world religions and cultures and respect for religious diversity and freedom,

through stories, crafts, and music

 

• learning to make our own decisions and participating in group decision-making processes

learning that we are an integral part of the great web of life.
